Take the First Step Now
I have always found this familiar statement encouraging. It is very easy to become overwhelmed and the simplest of changes seem daunting. There may be the times in our lives where a single moment completely changes everything. More common however, is that change comes in small increments. One step at a time. I believe when we can remember this it becomes easier to create change in our lives. We don’t have to do it all at once. We can take a first step now.
When students come to a class or workshop I often hear them comment that they feel so wonderful after the sessions. Inevitably there will be a discussion about the desire to feel this way more often. It is possible! My suggestion is to practice consistently even if that means just a few minutes a day. Take something from the session that you remember. Bring that piece into your day. It could be one simple movement, remembering to take a breath, or setting aside time to follow one of the meditation videos [here]. Once we begin with this first step another can so easily follow. It is not necessary to be overwhelmed by thinking that in order to bring more joy, peace of mind, and positive energy into your daily life you need to be an expert. Just begin, take your first step on todays’ journey.
Here is a head start. Follow the first 3 movements of the Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi Set 1 [watch the video] Keep in your mind that you will commit to just these 3 movements each day. Feel the difference that a short and consistent practice can make. When you feel ready practice the first 6 movements consistently.
This Spring why not kick start your journey here [A Day of Renewal]
